Capoeira

Capoeira is a dance/game which was created by African slaves during their enslavement in Brazil. The dance contains elements of self-defense, acrobatics and deception. This class will teach Capoeira Regional (a fast-paced form of Capoeira in which the players engage in a game called the jogo to demonstrate their strength, speed grace and skill) and Capoeira Angola (played slowly and deliberately, but with humor and joyfulness). This class will primarily focus on aspects important to playing the game, including dance steps and movement, escapes, attacks and some acrobatics. Capoeira music, lyrics and philosophy will also be introduced to cultivate a better understanding of the Capoeira mentality.  Capoeira is fastly gaining popularity worldwide and regularly seen in music videos, video games, and movies. Jeet Kune Do   JKD

JKD Translated means "Way of the Intercepting Fist",  is a martial arts system and philosophy developed by legendary martial artist and actor Bruce Lee. A fighter should do whatever necessary to defend himself, regardless of where the techniques come from. The combination of different styles can be adapted  to suit the abilities of the practitioner. Utilizing the most effective strikes and movements has been renowned as the original modern Mixed Martial Art.

Kali

Kali, Escrima and Arnis are all essentially the same martial art, all originating from different areas of the Philippines was originally used as a method of fighting off the invading Spanish. All of these utilise weapons such as sticks, knives, and swords. The typical Kali/Escrima weapon is the Escrima sticks. Techniques without weapons also taught include kicking, striking and grappling.

Kick Boxing

Muay Thai

Muay Thai or Thailand boxing is for those wanting a more hardcore workout then the already popular kick boxing classes. One of the most functional and practical Martial Arts- uses elbows, knees strikes coupled with combination kicks and punches in this high energy class. Also featuring sparring at the end of the session for those wanting to experience the action to the sounds of traditional Thai music for inspiration. All equipment provided. Intermediate to advanced level.

Mixed Martial Arts  MMA

MMA uses all the most effective moves from various martial arts combined to create a lethal form of combat.  Punches, kick, elbows knees, take downs and joint locks are all used in this adrenalin pumping sport. Self Defence

Tai Chi
